Exposing the Real Dangers of Defective Auto Parts

May 30, 2016

wrecked car: Babcock Product Safety/Recalls blogHave you ever gotten a letter from your vehicle’s manufacturer letting you know about a recalled part?

Car part and product recalls have become a very common occurrence in recent years. Automobiles have so many pieces that are all suppose to work together to create a safe vehicle for you to drive, but the reality is that these parts can all too often malfunction. When they do, you can end up in a very dangerous situation, very quickly.

Some of the most common auto defects or malfunctioning parts, according to Legal Crunch, are:

  • Air bags
  • Windshield wipers
  • Steering components
  • Wiring systems
  • Wheel parts
  • Fuel system components

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) monitors all vehicles and recalls them as needed for issues with specific parts. On their site, can search for recalls by VIN, file a compliant against a certain make and model of car, and view all of the current month’s recalls.

If you’ve been in an auto accident or injured because of a defective auto part, you may be able to file a product liability claim. These claims cover car parts that have been wrongly manufactured as well as vehicles that have been designed in such a way that poses a safety risk (such as being prone to rollover).

Filing a product liability claim can get tricky since there are different factors that determine who or what is to blame. You’ll want an experienced personal injury and car accident attorney to help you navigate through the legal process.

Contact Mack Babcock today to talk about your case.
