Last Thursday evening, many Denver residents do what many Americans do on a summer evening, they went to the movies. As you know, summer is the season when Hollywood releases many blockbuster hits to the public.
But on this sultry July evening, moviegoers were not expecting to be involved in such a traumatic event.
During a midnight screening for the new Batman movie in Aurora, James Holmes opened fire on moviegoers.
As of this writing, 12 people have lost their lives. Many others were wounded with some remaining in critical condition.
Aurora itself is nice, quiet bedroom community of the Denver metro area. Sadly, it’s not too far from where another tragedy of this nature occurred in 1999. Many residents here in our hometown of Littleton clearly remember the spring day when two students opened fire on their classmates at Columbine High School.
As of this writing on Monday afternoon, the shooter is currently being arraigned at the Arapahoe County courthouse.
All of us here at the Babcock Law Firm wish to extend our deepest condolences to the entire Aurora community during this tragic time. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families and the Aurora community.
