Made me feel as though I were her only client

“I called 10 other law firms about my workman’s comp case and was told on the phone that they could not help me. Stephanie, at Babcock, scheduled an appointment, and after our hour plus meeting, took my case. She explained the entire process up front and throughout the year that it took to resolve my case… always giving me all my options. She was tenacious and always honest about what was and could take place during the process. She was a strong advocate for me and brought my case to a resolution that got me the surgery I required and a more than fair disability settlement at the conclusion of my case. Never did I wait more than a few hours for her to respond to my queries during the year plus that the case took. Stephanie always made me feel as though I were her only client even over the holiday season. I most heartily recommend Stephanie Tucker and Babcock Tucker. They will go to bat for you during a process that is purposely intended to make it difficult for you to be successful in any litigation you attempt. Call them first: You will not regret the decision.”

Very honest and trustworthy

“Stephanie Tucker is a wonderful attorney! I have had her as an attorney twice, as I suffered two different accidents at two different employers. Stephanie was very understanding on both cases and she assisted me in a timely manner throughout the process. If I did not have Stephanie, I would never have gotten any money for my injuries from my employers. I would highly recommend Stephanie and any of the attorneys at this firm! If you ever have a question, you can call them and they will answer it for you. They always return client phone calls right away. They treat you like they really care about you. When you first meet them, there is never any pressure. I found on both occasions that they do not put any pressure on you for you to agree to have them take your case—they are very honest and trustworthy.”

Answers to top questions about work injury claims in Centennial

Does workers’ comp pay for everything in Colorado?

Workers’ comp helps cover a lot, but it doesn’t pay for everything. Here’s what workers’ comp typically pays for after a work-related injury or occupational disease:

  • Medical treatment. This includes doctor visits, surgeries, physical therapy, and prescriptions—basically anything needed to treat your work-related injury. But you’ll usually have to see a doctor approved by your employer or their insurance company.
  • Wage replacement. If your injury keeps you from working, you can get partial wage replacement (called temporary disability benefits). It’s typically about two-thirds of your average weekly wage, up to a set limit. These benefits aren’t taxed, so the amount you receive will be similar to your take-home pay in many cases.
  • Permanent disability. If your injury causes long-term damage or limits your ability to work permanently, you may qualify for ongoing payments based on the severity of your condition.
  • Mileage reimbursement. You can get paid back for travel to and from medical appointments.
  • Vocational rehab. If you can’t return to your old job, you might be eligible for help with job retraining or education.

So, what doesn’t workers’ comp cover?

Unlike a Colorado personal injury lawsuit, workers’ comp doesn’t compensate you for pain and suffering, emotional distress, or reduced quality of life. It only covers direct financial costs that result from your work-related injury.

What is not considered a work-related injury?

Most injuries, illnesses, and diseases that are directly tied to your job are covered by workers’ comp in Colorado. This includes fractures after falling off a ladder, tendonitis from repetitive tasks, or conditions like mesothelioma and other types of cancer from exposure to harmful substances on the job.

But not everything counts. Here are some examples of what doesn’t typically qualify as a work-related injury under Colorado law:

  • Injuries that happen off the clock. If you’re hurt while commuting, running personal errands, or after leaving work, your injury likely won’t be covered.
  • Roughhousing or personal fights. Workers’ comp doesn’t cover injuries caused by horseplay or personal arguments unrelated to your job.
  • Stress without physical injury. Mental health issues like post-traumatic stress disorder aren’t usually covered unless they’re tied to a physical injury or extreme trauma on the job.
  • Substance-related injuries. If you were under the influence of drugs or alcohol when the injury occurred, your claim will likely be denied.
  • Breaking the rules. If you got hurt while doing something reckless or ignoring clear safety policies, the injury may not be considered work-related.
  • Intentional self-harm. Workers’ comp won’t cover injuries you caused on purpose.

If you believe your injury qualifies, but your employer or their insurer denies your workers’ comp claim, reach out to a local Colorado work injury attorney for advice. They can help you gather evidence and appeal the denial so you can get the benefits you’re owed.

What are my options if my workers’ comp claim is denied in Centennial?

If your workers’ comp claim is denied, don’t panic—you still have options. A denial isn’t necessarily the end of the road, but it could be a sign that you need legal help. Here’s what you should do:

  1. Review the denial letter. Take a close look at the denial letter—it should outline why your claim was turned down. Some of the most common reasons for denied workers’ comp claims include missing deadlines, not having enough medical documentation, or disagreements about whether your injury is actually related to your job.
  2. Talk to your employer or their insurance company. Sometimes denials happen because of missing paperwork or simple misunderstandings. It may be possible to resolve the issue without a formal appeal.
  3. File an appeal. If the denial stands, you can request a hearing with the Colorado Office of Administrative Courts. This process, known as workers’ comp adjudication, is your chance to present evidence, bring witnesses, and make your case to a judge. You or your attorney will need to fill out an Application for Hearing form and file it at the office location nearest you that’s listed on the form.
  4. Gather stronger evidence. This could include medical records, statements from coworkers, or expert opinions that support your side of the story.
  5. Get help from a workers’ comp attorney. Having a lawyer who knows the Colorado system can make a huge difference. They’ll help you meet deadlines, build your case, and fight for the benefits you deserve.

If your claim was denied in Centennial, Babcock Tucker is ready to step in and help you turn things around. Reach out to our office today to schedule a free consultation with one of our highly skilled work injury attorneys.
