It takes a team of highly trained, professional individuals who can bring you step-by-step through the complicated legal process.
We invite you to get to know a few of the faces and personalities behind our success as a top-rated Denver workers’ compensation and personal injury law firm.
Micki Marion
Firm Administrator
Micki is a Colorado native who grew up in Fort Collins and now lives in Denver. She is a proud alumna of her hometown Colorado State University. Micki is an experienced professional who brings more than 25 years of legal and business management experience to her role as Firm Administrator.
Micki oversees the firm’s marketing, human resources and financial management and has a key leadership role in keeping our team on task and maximizing caseload efficiency.
Micki joined our team because she was excited to work for a law firm that was truly client-focused and advocates for victims of negligence while providing the highest level of service to clients. She is also a member of the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association and the Workers’ Injury Law & Advocacy Group.
In her free time, Micki is a true Coloradan. She enjoys golfing, hiking on Colorado’s many beautiful trails and riding her cruiser bike on the bike trails around the Denver area.
Brighty Melton
Paralegal
Born and raised in the Chicago area, Brighty earned a college degree from Drake University, specializing in Psychology with minors in Sociology and Spanish. She moved out to Colorado to complete her Masters of Social Work at the University of Denver, and was employed as a licensed clinical social worker with children and families.
As a social worker, Brighty most enjoyed helping people who were going through a difficult time in their life. Now, as a paralegal professional at The Babcock Law Firm who specializes in personal injury cases, she achieves the same sense of purpose and reward by lending a helping hand to injured clients and their families.
“My clients may be in different circumstances, dealing with a personal injury as opposed to family difficulties; however, everyone needs some help when faced with a difficult time in their life. I’m glad I can continue to provide that assistance to people.”
Brighty also enjoys spending time with her family, including her two children. Both of her kids are dancers and she loves watching them perform. Outside of work, she also spends time traveling, skiing, hiking, running and reading.
Brenden Ray
Paralegal
Brenden is a native of Aurora, Colorado, and he attended undergrad at the University of Colorado Denver. He graduated in 2018 with a BA in International Studies, then went on to pursue his Masters in Social Science (M.S.S.), Social Justice. He received his graduate degree in 2020.
In graduate school, Brenden’s main research specialization was in labor laws and how they have shaped much of the world we live in. After taking some law classes, he discovered he had a strong interest in the legal side of labor rights issues, which naturally led him into workers’ compensation law.
“Workers’ compensation is a direct result of labor issues shaping policy as the entire system developed out of the labor movements of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and continues to be shaped by how we understand the worker-employer relationship.”
Prior to joining The Babcock Law Firm as a paralegal, Brenden worked for a youth development non-profit.
Until recently, most of Brenden’s life outside of work was dominated by his Master’s degree and writing his thesis on the emotional impacts that workers in the nonprofit industry experience as part of their work. Since wrapping up his thesis, he has finally had more time to pursue creative writing projects and go on walks with his partner and their dog, Lexy.
Vanessa Bodie
Paralegal
Born and raised on the Western Slope in Grand Junction, Colorado, Vanessa attended Fruita Monument High School, spent a year of undergraduate education at Brandeis University in Waltham, MA., and graduated from the University of Denver with degrees in biology and psychology (with a concentration of neuroscience in both).
Vanessa joined The Babcock Law Firm because she is interested in studying law, and eventually practicing law in a specialty that she’ll be able to use her background and knowledge in the physical/biological sciences. She enjoys working as a paralegal in workers’ comp law because of how she’s able to help our clients, many of whom have been seriously injured and forgotten or dismissed by insurance companies and employers.
“The human interaction, and knowing you are making a positive impact on a client’s life and wellbeing, is rewarding.”
Outside of the office, Vanessa likes to ski as much as possible. She also plays on a volleyball rec team, cycles, paints and cooks in her spare time.
Charlotte Rhoad
Paralegal
Charlotte grew up in Charleston, South Carolina, and now lives in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. She received her B.A. in English and Communications from The George Washington University in May 2018.
Charlotte joined The Babcock Law Firm—first as a part-time file clerk and then as a paralegal— because she enjoys educating and assisting clients about the confusing legal system in order to help them better understand their rights. Charlotte uses her considerable multi-tasking skills and customer service experience to assist our workers’ compensation clients by providing regular contact and updates, managing the discovery process, maintaining the case calendar and deadlines, and drafting pleadings and letters.
Outside of work, Charlotte enjoys playing tennis, rock climbing and reading.
“Thank you to all at The Babcock Law Firm for all of your concern and professionalism. The experience was second to none and I would definitely recommend their services. Thanks again.”
